Online pre-launch

We're calling time. Join us on Tuesday, May 30.

Dear friends and collaborators,

We’re excited to invite you to the Climate Majority Project’s online pre-launch on Tuesday 30th May 2023 from 7 to 8pm (UK).

As well as important updates on our work and new identity, we’ll introduce a launch campaign that we invite you to be a part of.

Time’s up: we’re past final warnings on climate change. A rising majority of the public, far beyond the radical activist sphere, is now rightly concerned. And far from curling up in despair, many of those people are already getting to work. The CMP works to expand and catalyse their efforts toward system change, and help this mass movement in-waiting to become aware of itself.

Our work begins with calling time on the decades-long story where there’s always one last chance to fix things - a story that helps prevent mass concern from becoming mass action. At our pre-launch call we’ll ask you to join us in this effort.

We’ll offer a high level summary of what we’ve been up to in the last few months, including an official name and identity change. Then we’ll discuss how you can take part in a campaign that will run until our official launch in late June and beyond.

So don't miss out and please reserve a space on eventbrite. A link to the call will be published as we near the event date. The call is scheduled for about one hour.

We look forward to seeing you there!

More about CMP

The CMP is building a space where climate-concerned people from all backgrounds and political views can come together around the need for serious climate action. Operating both as a thought-leader and as an incubator, we work to shift the climate and ecological conversation towards truthfulness - and help people find the resources they need to deal with the truth together as part of an emerging wave of mainstream, serious climate action.

So far:

  • We’re incubating 6 exciting citizen climate initiatives: MP Watch, Community Climate Action, Wild Card, Lawyers for Net Zero, Play Your Part and People Get Real.

  • Adam Woodhall, founder of Lawyers for Net Zero who we provided with first seed funding, has been named LexisNexis Legal Personality of the Year.

  • We've received attention in national and international media.

  • A series of weekend-long in-person gatherings, each attended by about 25 people, have brought together key contacts in different focus areas. Our upcoming July gathering will be larger, bringing together people focused on pragmatic action.

  • We have conducted audience research to gauge the public’s thirst for an ambitious climate movement which is neither too polite nor polarising. The Results are highly encouraging and demonstrate that a large part of the population is concerned about the environment but does not feel represented by any group.

  • We’ll shortly publish a book detailing our vision and theory of change.
